STS 88 - First Flight to ISS

Astronaut Nancy J. Currie, mission specialist, with the IVA Tool on the Russian-built Zarya control module. One of Currie's tasks was to replace a faulty unit which controls the discharging of stored energy from one of the module's six batteries.

Nancy J. Currie and Sergei Krikalev use IVA power tools to remove shipping screws from the equipment racks onboard the Zarya module. The screws allowed the front panels to provide the necessary structural integrity of the racks during launch. The racks are constructed of light weight plastic.
